Spring Books and Fingerplays

Spring is just around the corner! Talking to babies and children about the changing seasons prepares them for the changes and gets them excited for what’s to come! A fun theme to explore in the Springtime is bunnies. We have this bunny puppet that I use to sing “Little Bunny Foo-Foo” and I also use it when reading bunny books. It makes reading time just a little more fun! Check out our favorites below!

Here are some fun Spring-themed fingerplays:

Spring is Here
(to the tune of The Farmer in the Dell)

The days of Spring are here,
Warm, sunny days are near,
Flowers and bees, and birds in trees.
The days of spring are here.

Itsy Bitsy Spider
The itsy, bitsy spider went up the water spout,
Down came the rain and washed the spider out.
Out came the sun and dried up all the rain,
And the itsy, bitsy spider went up the spout again

Little Bunny Foo
Little Bunny Foo-Foo,
Hopping through the forest,
Scooping up the field mice,
And bopping them on the head,

Down came the good fairy
and she said:
Little Bunny Foo-Foo,
I don’t want to see you,
Scooping up the field mice,
And bopping them on the head,
I’ll give you three chances, and if you don’t behave,
I will have to turn you into a goon!

(repeat with two more chances, one more chance, and then with the following ending:)

I gave you three chances, and you didn’t behave,
So now I will turn you into a goon!
And poof, she turned him into a goon.
